Staff at Axon Place

Our Nursery Manager has over 30 years' experience

Karen Collier

Nursery Manager

Karen joined us as Nursery Manager at Axon Place, Ilford in November 2019.

She is qualified to Level 5 in Early Years and Development, has worked  in childcare for 30 years and has managed nurseries for over 20 years. She has also delivered Level 2 Childcare for mature students and comes with extensive experience of safeguarding, Ofsted legislation, inspections and SEND (Special Education Needs). She is the designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery.

Karen is passionate about outdoor play and using best practice methods for children to learn by encouraging their own natural curiosity, for example by providing natural resources and ordinary household items that stimulate imagination.

She sees that positive interaction between staff and children is the key to children’s development while promoting secure attachment, so that children feel safe, happy and able to learn while at Nursery, secure in the knowedge that their parent or guardian will return to collect them.

Karen has five sons and 17 grandchildren.
